Bug: Reverse Mouse doesn't work. #1763

Describe the bug

After a fresh install, I enabled Reverse Mouse and it didn't invert my Y axis. It didn't do anything neither gave me any errors. (I didn't change anything else in the mouse settings)

I tried:

  • Disabling and re-enabling reverse mouse.
  • Restarting the game.
  • Verifying the integrity of game files.

None of them fixed the issue, however I have a temporary solution.

My (Temporary) Fix:

  • I enabled the dev console
  • Opened it
  • Ran these two commands: m_pitch -0.025 and m_yaw 0.025

This didn't make the option work in the settings menu but at least my mouse works as I want it to work.

Note:

This is happening on the latest native Linux build from Steam. (I haven't tried Proton yet)

P.S.:

Given the fact the option says "it's a great way to ruin your day." the devs might not care about this enough to check it out but I'm not angry for that. Very little % of people use inverted Y axis so most games don't even include it anymore. Plus, it's very easy to fix it manually, a functioning option would be nice though.

To Reproduce

  1. I started the game.
  2. Loaded the first level of Portal 2.
  3. Issue appeared.

Issue Map

This happened in the Portal 2 campaign.

Expected Behavior

Reverse Mouse should invert my Y axis so when I pull my mouse down, my character should look up.

Operating System

Fedora 43 (Linux)
