Summary

Here are a couple things I'm proposing @karllhughes

  • I audited all program links (April 2026) and reorganized the README into three sections: ✅ Active, ⏸️ Paused/Closed, and ❓ Unknown/Unverified
  • Moved CircleCI to Paused (confirms PR Removed CircleCI link #237, program not accepting submissions, per CircleCI employee)
  • Moved Strapi to Paused (write-for-us page no longer accessible)
  • Moved 7 entries with dead/unreachable links (Content Turbine, Hashnode Web3, Literally, Soshace, TechBeacon, Vonage, Webiny) to Unknown section rather than silently removing them, so contributors can verify or remove them
  • Addresses the concern raised in issue Issues not Being Resolved Despite Closure #226 about stale entries causing frustration for writers

Sections

Section Count
✅ Active 49
⏸️ Paused/Closed 2
❓ Unknown/Unverified 7

... and on the branch rename, after merging this PR I want to rename the default branch from master to main in the repo settings.

Thoughts? I also need to do another pass tbh and see what i can update

Nice, @malgamves! Thanks for going through this and cleaning it up!

Any reason to keep the closed programs? I'd say once we verified they're closed we can probably just remove, but if there's a valid reason to keep them, I'm open to hearing.

Sometimes the programs come back and I'd like a staging space to keep them just incase we need to bring them back to active. No strong feelings tbh, i can get rid of it @karllhughes
