feat: Implement generic database connection

Part of stackabletech/issues#238

• BREAKING: renamed metadata_storage_database -> metadata_database (consolidation)
• remove metadata storage database properties from product config properties yaml
• code updated
• examples updated
• docs updated
• tests updated
